The 2025 Guide to a Sustainable Spring

From ditching the tradition of buying a new, warm weather wardrobe, to planting seeds to grow your own food and swapping your 4 wheels for 2; we’re going to give you plenty of ways to make this season sustainable.  


Clothing

The warmer days of spring usually means revamping our wardrobe: getting rid of trousers in preparation for shorts or skirts, trainers in exchange for sandals and jumpers for a new linen shirt. So make those swaps sustainable ones. Have a look through some eco-friendly brands below to keep your style from impacting the planet. 

  1. Patagonia - The company that ‘sold itself to mother nature’. After the founder transferred ownership to a trust fighting climate change, all profits from the company now go straight to protecting people and the environment. 

  2. Finisterre - They are a B corp-certified company that aims to source their materials made from recycled ocean plastic and biodegradable. 

  3. NinetyPercent - This clothing brand promises 90% of their income to their garment workers and philanthropic causes. 



Cultivating

Use spring for what is good for and get stuck into growing your own food. It can reduce the price of your groceries, reduce your carbon footprint (you won’t need to worry about your food mileage) and it reduces your plastic waste.

Cycling

Less rain and more sunshine means roads are now safer for cyclists. Not only are you making a healthy decision for your body, but the planet will thank you too. 

  1. Lime Bike - Service offering electric bikes and scooters that operates in more than 230 cities across nearly 30 countries. 

  2. Human Forest Bikes - A London based bike rental service that has teamed with ‘the Great Reserve’ to help reforestation efforts. 

  3. Facebook Marketplace - There are plenty of affordable, second-hand bikes for sale in your area. 


Cleaning

What else are these warmer months known for, if it's not the classic ‘spring clean’. While you are decluttering and deep-cleaning your way into the fresh and brighter part of the year, why not give these eco-friendly products a go?

With a world of information at your fingertips, why not make it productive. There are plenty of Apps and Websites that can help guide you to be more sustainable. 


  1. The Nature Conservancy - This charity works to address climate change and biodiversity loss. On their website you will find a carbon footprint calculator so you can assess your impact.

  2. UK Zero App - This app shows you the UK’s use of renewable energy, in real time, whilst also providing a comprehensive list of ways you can help with tackling climate change. 

  3. Too Good To Go - An app that gets you access to perfectly good food that may otherwise have been thrown away from cafes, supermarkets or restaurants.
